Final Blog

IN THIS WEEK'S BLOG, please provide a summary of the highlights of your learning for the semester. I'd also especially like to know how the small group blogging experience was for you? If there are any other comments, including critiques, about the course, PLEASE share them with me and Erin.

  • One of the learning highlights for me during this semester was getting to read the book of our choice for the book review.  I liked that we got to pick which book we wanted based on our interests.  This made the assignment a lot more interesting for me.  I feel the same way about the literature review.  I liked that we got a lot of freedom to pick a topic that is interesting to us.
  • I thought the small group blogging could have been better for a couple of reasons.  For instance, I felt the same activity could have been done using canvas which would have been easier to navigate and comment on other peoples discussions.  It was also hard to do any back and forth conversing on the blogs because it was hard to keep up so many conversations on the blog because there were so many to complete, especially in the beginning.
  • If I were to make one suggestion, I feel there should be more of the online classes available.  I feel like this could have been a good online class.
  • I also feel that since we had to do the environmental health in the news that those assignments should have been for credit.

Jillian- You were very thoughtful. It’s true the book and lit review where highlights of this course. Being able to design our learning by choosing topics that interest us was great and I got a lot out both of the assignments. I like the idea of the blog – however, it did feel a bit repetitive and you are right it was hard to keep up with all the posts. On the other hand I like our in class sessions and liked the small group discussions and guest presentations.
