Personal Care Products - M2.4 video comments

I was so shocked by how many toxic chemicals (287) that were found in each of those 10 babies using the umbilical cord blood.  It is so sad to that we are affected even before we take our first breaths.  Babies and children are such a vulnerable population and I am not a parent, but I am sure that it can make someone feel so helpless that they can't keep their babies safe from these toxic chemicals.  Like he said, we need to do all we can to minimize those exposures, and that although it may not mean everyone exposed results in a health condition, it is still concerning.  The statistics were also shocking.  The increased rates in children developing diseases and chronic conditions and adults who are developing diseases and having trouble conceiving were pretty eye opening to me.  I sometimes can't imagine this would happen to me but it is so possible.  The health of the public needs to be prioritized and that can be done with updates to the Toxic Substances Control Act.  Like he said, change has happened before and life went on.  I think I can do a better job on staying educated on these topics, and I am sure that I am not alone.  I feel that staying aware and being part of the change that needs to happen can have huge impacts on the health of the public.

Jillian- It was so revealing how many chemicals our personal and household products have. Ultimately, in your case personal products produced more concern than household cleaning products. I agree with you on the convenience of getting products and the price when buying bulk, and yet we need to make changes if we want to reduce health risks in our lives. The video was also shocking to me and the reality that we are at risk for these exposures was very real. I agree that this is a big public health concern.
